YOUNG footballers wanting to add new silky skills to their armoury are being invited to take part in a free two-touch tournament next month.

The 2 Touch Rulz Football (2TR Football) taster event will be held at George’s pitch in Abbey Road, St John’s Wood, on Monday, April 15, between 4.30pm and 7.30pm.

The showcase will be open to four age categories – Under-10s, 12s, 14s and 16s – but organiser Charlie Browne was keen to stress individuals without a team are more than welcome to join in.

What’s more, anyone who takes part will be invited to play in this summer’s London Estates Cash Cup, where winning teams will walk away with £1,000.

“Our main goal is to introduce 2TR to those who are not familiar with it,” explained Charlie, who lives in Holloway. “Our format is different from other games, and if you don’t know the rules, how can you play?

“Players are restricted to just two touches, and there is no goalkeeper. Parts of each goal are protected by panels – so players have to display pinpoint accuracy when trying to score.

“The game allows and encourages players to think in a different way. You can’t think as an individual, you have to work, think and act together, as a team.

“But anyone who wants to join in should come along, you don’t already have to be part of a team. Just come along and learn some new skills, and see football in a different way.”
