Rodents in South End Green

A SWARM of rats has been spotted crawling around a popular spot in Hampstead sparking fears from the public.

In a video taken by a resident last Friday, around five rodents with thick tails can be seen darting outside the bus depot in South End Green – a stone’s throw away from the Royal Free Hospital.

A local resident, who asked not to be named, said she counted “over 50” rats at 6pm on Friday.

She added: “Considering its proximity to the hospital and also the amount of restaurants in the area, it really is a public health hazard. I’m shocked it hasn’t been attended to yet. What are we paying our council tax for?”

A Camden Council spokesperson said: “Our Pest Control team have responded to the reports of rats in South End Green and are working with the owner of the affected building to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”
