Highgate Albion Reserves will return to action in Division One of the Barnet Sunday Football League on Easter Sunday

GAFFER John Eager couldn’t hide his “egg-citement” after Highgate Albion Reserves were told that their first game back after lockdown falls on Easter Sunday.

After what will have been 112 days without football, Albion’s April 4 resurrection will see them tackle Chefchaouen Berbers in Division One of the Barnet Sunday Football League.

“It’s going to be cracking”, joked Eager. “I think we need to get back to enjoying playing football again.

“From a physical and mental health point of view, so many people rely on sport to stay healthy. It is absolutely crucial and, for me personally, as someone who uses football as a release, to have had that taken away has been really tough.”

Albion had failed to win any of their six games prior to the break. Eager added: “We certainly weren’t in our best form before the restrictions halted all grassroots football. I am hoping that now we can get back to what we do best, and that’s winning games.”
