POLICE have released an image of a man they describe as “dangerous” who they are seeking in a murder investigation of an Amazon delivery worker believed to have been killed on his rounds.

Ahmed Jama died in Paddington’s St Mary’s Hospital hours after being stabbed on the Abbey Estate, St John’s Wood.

The victim was found around 7.30pm on Friday December 29 in a small walkway in Gaymead block on the estate off Abbey Road – close to a children’s playground – and police attended.

Yesterday, Thursday, the Metropolitan Police Service said Arlind Hashani, 20, is “wanted in connection with the murder”, the fatal stabbing, of Mr Jama, who was 29.

The MPS said a 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, a 25-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, and two 25-year-old men were arrested on January 17 on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

But all four men have been released on bail and the police are yet to bring any charges in the case.

Lead investigator Detective Chief Inspector Neil Rawlinson said: “We urgently need to trace the whereabouts of Arlind Hashani. He is considered to be dangerous and should not be approached. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call 999 or report anonymously to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.”

Mr Jama, who grew up and had lived in the area, was said to have been delivering parcels for Amazon at the time of his death.

He was well known in the area and there has been significant interest in the case.

A public meeting heard that there had been a significant CCTV black hole on the estate that had hamstrung the investigation.

Senior police officers had also said that there had been a problem with resources and they were actively looking to draft in at least another officer to patrol the beat in St John’s Wood and the Kilburn.

At the meeting, on January 8, on the Alexandra and Ainsworth estate, Safer Neighbourhoods Team Inspector Stevie Bull invited people from ethnic minority backgrounds to join the police to address the problem.

She said she was working on “uplifting the team” in Kilburn, and added: “We are having lots of conversations internally about the level of resources.

“We are conscious of the level and nature of crime that is happening.

“It is a priority that we bring more resources to the area. It’s going to take a bit of time.

“We need more of us, essentially.”
