ARSENAL are ready to create chaos out on the football pitch, and Mikel Arteta has little doubt that his charges have the “weapons” needed to push the Premier League title race all the way.

The Gunners travel to West Ham this Sunday looking to stretch their winning streak to four games, and hopefully banish the demons that arose when the Hammers inflicted a 2-0 defeat on their London rivals at the Emirates back in December.

Arteta has every reason to be confident that his side will emerge victors at the London Stadium after guiding Arsenal to a dominant 3-1 home win over Liverpool on Sunday.

Asked for his thoughts on the way the Gunners controlled the match against their title rivals, Arteta said: “Control is not really a word that I like. I like dominance and not allowing any teams to breathe, more than control. And especially which part of the pitch that happens in, that’s the most important thing in my opinion. But we can be very chaotic in open spaces, we can create a lot of issues playing in different ways. That’s another weapon that we have.”

The Spaniard made it clear Arsenal plan to be in the title race until the very end, providing they can get a little luck with avoiding injuries. He added: “We are there, that’s for sure – and we want to continue to be there. I think we’ve been really consistent the whole of the season. We’re not where we are today [without that]. We go game-by-game, the availability of the squad is going to be crucial, and we have learnt that from last season. So let’s try to make that happen.”

So far on the injury front it’s mixed news for the Gunners. Bukayo Saka is expected to be fit to face West Ham despite being forced off in the closing stages against Liverpool after taking a knock, while Gabriel Jesus, who missed the match entirely with a knee issue, could also feature. Oleksandr Zinchenko and Thomas Partey, however, look set for longer spells on the sidelines.

Urging his players “to go for it” now they’ve reached the business end of the season, Arteta said: “The schedule we had prior to Christmas, the amount of players that played so many minutes, we had injuries, and we needed to recharge, and now we’ve got some momentum back – three wins in a row in a really convincing way, the team performing really well, we have to go for it.

“We need some players back because right now we have a few injuries, and that’s a big concern that I have, the availability of the squad. If we have everybody fit and training, we have a really good chance.”
