TAKEHIRO Tomiyasu says he wants to “give something back” to Arsenal supporters after committing his long-term future to the club.

Despite struggling with a series of niggling injuries since joining the Gunners from Bologna in 2021, the 25-year-old has become a fans’ favourite. Arguably his biggest asset to Mikel Arteta’s team is his versatility, with the Japanese international having played in all positions across the defence since moving to the Emirates.

After putting pen to paper on a new deal that runs until the summer of 2026 yesterday (Wednesday), Tomiyasu told the club’s website: “I am so happy to extend my contract because Arsenal is the best club in the world. It’s a dream to play for this club, so I’m happy.

“When I’m on the pitch I feel the love and energy from the supporters. We are connected a lot so I want to give them something back.

“I am playing for Arsenal, and this means I’m playing for the Arsenal supporters.”
