A SQUAD of aspiring young athletes enjoyed an inclusive sports day on Sunday as they showcased their skills at Parliament Hill Fields athletics track.

From a 70m dash and relay races, to the long jump and the shot put, young people from Camden and Islington took part in a wide range of track and field events. A joint venture between Highgate Harriers Athletics Club, the London Inclusion Sports Academy (LISA) and Camden Council Sports & Physical Activity Department, the “Disability Give it a Go Day” proved a huge success.

Graham Norris, grants officer for Highgate Harriers, said: “There are not that many opportunities for people with disabilities, whether physical or intellectual, to simply enjoy sporting activities, so it’s great that our club does its bit in this area.

“We hold a regular Thursday evening disability session between 5pm and 6pm which is currently small but will hopefully grow through events like this one.”
