THE big race day is finally here as Highgate Harriers’ much-loved Night of the 10,000m PB’s finally makes its long-awaited return to Parliament Hill this Saturday.

And the 25-lap party – back following a two-year hiatus due to the Covid outbreak – is for everyone, with the free showcase “offering world-class athletics and much, much more”.

Dubbed “the Glastonbury of 10k running”, some of the biggest names in the sport are expected on the athletics track with the elite races acting as the Team GB trials for the World Championships, which take place in Oregon in July, and the European 10,000m Cup, which will be held in France later this month.

But organiser Ben Pochee made it clear the fun won’t stop there. “There will be a whole host of family fun, including a full-on circus theatre show, pyrotechnics, drummers, a DJ, and much, much more,” he said.

“It’s all free. I want people to see how cool athletics is, and how great the athletics community is.”

The action starts at 3pm. Visit Night of the 10,000m PB’s on Facebook for more info.
