CD Tenerife are crowned champions after they represented the Spanish side in the LaLiga X Bloomsbury Football League

THERE was a Spanish vibe to the celebrations as the silverware was presented at the end of a scintillating season of grassroots football that brought with it an added slice of continental flair.

Since November, more than 80 players aged 10 to 13 years old have been donning the colours of some of Spain’s most recognised clubs as they took part in the LaLiga X Bloomsbury Football League at Acland Burghley School in Tufnell Park.

And at the end of a thrilling campaign cram-packed with silky skills, tough tackling and teamwork, it was the talented youngsters representing CD Tenerife who were cheering the loudest as they were crowned champions.

The league was part of a growing collaboration between Bloomsbury Football and the LaLiga Foundation, which now has a location in the heart of King’s Cross.

With the joint goal of changing the game for young people in London and offering greater access to football, both organisations joined forces to provide financial support for over 70 per cent of all participating players in the league.
