CHINESE New Year celebrations will be in full swing at a Bloomsbury shopping centre later this month.

The Brunswick near Russell Square will be holding free events for the Year of the Rabbit on January 20 from 4.30pm.

Tian Tian Market and The Brunswick have arranged an eclectic mix of performances, including traditional Chinese lion performers, a Money God mascot performer, live Chinese music and more to wow and entertain visitors.

Tian Tian Market sells a wide variety of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai and Vietnamese food and lifestyle products.

Meanwhile. bubble tea shop Truedan specialises in brown sugar bubble tea and authentic Japanese baked items, while restaurants Hare & Tortoise and itsu serve fresh handmade sushi, sashimi, ramen noodles, fried rice and more.

For those with a sweet tooth Japanese cafe Fuwa Fuwa sells iconic soufflé pancakes, which are considered some of the best in London.

Chinese New Year, also known as Spring Festival and Lunar New Year, is a huge festival among Chinese communities in London and across the world.

Based on the lunar and solar calendars, the actual date of Chinese New Year varies and each year in the Chinese calendar is represented by one of the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac.

Chinese New Year 2023, the Year of the Rabbit, falls on Sunday January 22.

John Themis, marketing manager at The Brunswick said, “We have an incredible Asian food offer at the centre and so it felt very appropriate to celebrate Chinese New Year in a big way this year. We’ve planned some sensational entertainment for the night and have installed some spectacular decorations for everyone to admire.

“I also just wanted to thank the team at Tian Tian Market for helping organise such a fun array of entertainment for January 20”
