The charity forum+ is launching its largest line-up of events in London celebrating LGBT History Month across the country.

They have partnered with organisations across the city to offer a month brimming with events – from guided walks, LGBT+ under- fives’ story book mornings and plays by LGBT writers to queer poetry readings.

Events include a selection of LGBT+ films at The British Museum on February 15 and a celebrate queer poetry night, Incite!, at the Phoenix Arts Club on February 17.

Tessa Havers-Strong, executive and governance officer at forum+, said: “It’s important that through events like Camden and Islington LGBT History Month, there is the opportunity for us all to acknowledge the rich contributions and significant cultural achievements of LGBT people, thereby enriching lives for

everyone and building a stronger, more cohesive society in the Camden and Islington boroughs.”

“Throughout February the rich LGBT history is reflected and celebrated with LGBT+ events for

everyone to enjoy. We are extremely grateful to our funders Camden and Islington Councils and to many individuals

and organisations for their generous donation of time and effort. Thank you to all involved.”

forum+ supports victims of homophobic, biphobic and transphobic hate crime, across Camden and Islington and in surrounding boroughs.

Ms Havers-Strong said: “LGBT rights have come a long way since the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality in 1967 and today, equality under the law for LGBT people in the United Kingdom has been achieved.

“Nevertheless, some people in the community still experience discrimination, harassment and crime because of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity.

“Work continues in translating those LGBT rights won into legislation to realising a better acceptance and understanding of LGBT people in wider society.”

EVENT HORIZON forum+ hosts social isolation and loneliness in the LGBT+ community.
