STAFF and pupils at a Catholic school in Hampstead have welcomed a new headteacher.

Charlotte Owen has taken over at St Mary’s School in Fitzjohn’s Avenue, succeeding Harriet Connor-Earl. She described it as a “quite remarkable school”, adding: “St Mary’s inspires confidence, nurtures the individual, and helps to facilitate girls to not only secure places at top London secondary schools, but to leave us valuing the qualities of kindness, care and compassion.

“I very much look forward to getting to know everyone better within the community in the coming weeks.”
