A SCIENCE lab at a primary school in Kentish Town has won a prestigious award for its design.

Eleanor Palmer’s new facility, funded by the council, was built last year and boasts skylight windows, plywood worktops and a “spaceman’’ which sits at the window, looking out onto Fortess Road.

Kate Frood, the school’s headteacher, said: “We are so delighted. This whole project and vision began in November 2015 when, gathered together in the school hall, we spoke live to an astronaut on the International Space Station. The architects worked so closely with us to create a space that was enticing and inspiring. Thanks, too, to Camden council for funding the building.”

The science lab was designed by AY Architects and has been awarded with the RIBA National Award 2019.
