Camden Elite Under-11s won the Camden & Islington Youth League’s challenging seven-a-side competition without conceding a goal

A NEWLY-FORMED youth football squad have wasted little time making their mark at the artificial pitches in Market Road, Islington.

In their first season together Camden Elite’s new girls’ Under-11s side were pitch perfect on Saturday when they won their first trophy without conceding a single goal.

Goalkeeper Lillian Vass-Costa and defenders River Ejiofor and Emma Baron were immense throughout the Camden & Islington Youth League’s challenging seven-a-side cup competition.

At the other end of the pitch, striker Poppy Lea fired Elite to the top of the table in the group stages, before joining Esra Parkinson on the scoresheet in the semi-final to earn the club a 2-0 victory over Brent.

And in the final, winger Sanya Shah scored the winner as Elite beat London Football School 1-0.

“There’s a great buzz around this team, they were really impressive,” said head coach Sebastian Eurico. “I wasn’t surprised they won the trophy because they’re a fantastic squad.”
