SPEEDY swimmers from one of the biggest and most successful swimming clubs in central London have set their sights on ending the season in spectacular fashion.

Squads representing Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club have enjoyed a summer full of medals and personal best times as they showcased their skills in a series of major meets across the country and beyond.

Now there is just one big outing left, with youngsters preparing themselves for the final of the National Junior League, which will be held in Coventry on September 18.

Lucas Bohm

Having qualified for the event as the top-ranked team in the country, coaches and swimmers from Camden Swiss Cottage would be forgiven for predicting plenty of premier performances in the pool.

And the team will travel to the West Midlands brimming with confidence after grabbing plenty of headlines at the Swim England National Summer Meet and the British Championships, which were both held at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield in August and July respectively.

Leonardo Brero

There was little doubt who the star of the show was at the British Championships as Llewellyn Porter returned home with an incredible six gold medals, two silvers and a bronze. The triumphant 14-year-old won the 200m, 400m, and 800m freestyle, the 200m and 400m individual medley, and the 200m butterfly.

He also scooped silver medals in the 100m and 1,500m freestyle events, and bagged a bronze in the 100m butterfly.

Michael Klimaszewski

The success continued with clubmate Leonardo Brero, 15, winning gold in the 200m butterfly and silver in the 100m butterfly, while Ines Guimond-Beetham, 14, took silver in the 100m butterfly and bronze in the 400m individual medley.

Michael Klimaszewski, 18, also put in a solid showing to take silver in the 100m butterfly.

Alexandra Nurney

The English nationals proved just as fruitful, with Lucas Bohm, 15, securing a silver in the 100m breaststroke, and Alexandra Nurney, 12, earning bronze medals in both the 50m and 100m freestyle events.

Celebrating the club’s success, lead coach Kylie Bland said: “I am really proud of how well our swimmers performed. There have been so many great swims over the past few weeks. Everyone has been working really hard, and it shows.

“I am really looking forward to seeing these young swimmers compete at an even higher level over the coming 12 months as the new swimming season approaches.”
