Anita Asante and Ellen White with their Women’s Super League Hall of Fame awards

FORMER England internationals Anita Asante and Ellen White were inducted into the Women’s Super League Hall of Fame this week in recognition of their incredible contributions to the game.

Asante was part of the Arsenal team that won an unprecedented quadruple in 2006/07, lifting the UEFA Women’s Cup, FA Women’s National Premier League, the FA Cup and the Premier League Cup.

White, meanwhile, made 72 appearances for the Gunners between 2010 and 2013, scoring 39 goals and helping the club to win the inaugural WSL title in 2011. The striker added another WSL trophy the following season, alongside two FA Cups and two League Cups.

The pair were inducted alongside former international teammate Jill Scott at a special event at the National Football Museum in Manchester.

Asante and White join fellow Arsenal legends Kelly Smith, Rachel Yankey, Karen Carney, Katie Chapman and Fara Williams in receiving the honour, which was set-up in 2021 to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the WSL. Chelsea boss Emma Hayes, who grew up in Camden Town and helped Arsenal to their historic quadruple as assistant to Vic Akers, has also won the award.
