THE relief was palpable on Monday night as potters from King’s Cross Gunners finally got their season firing with a topsy-turvy victory over Northumberland Arms in Camden and Islington’s premier pool league.

Jamie Dugdale sank the black in the decisive frame as the Gunners eked out a 6-3 triumph at the table to chalk up their first win in five attempts in Division One of the Chalk Farm Pool League.

Lewis Boch, Jack Dolan and Burhan Uddin also won their individual battles, while partnerships between Dugdale and Uddin and Dolan and Will Buck heralded success in the doubles as the Gunners twice came from behind to pocket some much-needed points.

The result leaves King’s Cross Gunners hovering just above the relegation zone ahead of what promises to be a titanic tussle this coming Monday against a Cock Tavern Aloysius side who are sitting bottom of the table.

Meanwhile, the title chase in Division One is shaping up nicely with just two points separating the top three teams.

King’s Cross Hurricanes are currently leading the pack, and they didn’t look like they were about to let their standards slip on Monday when they beat Maddens Misfits 6-3.

Hurricane Potters and DOB Dynamos are just two points behind.

The Potters came from 4-1 down to grind out a 5-4 win over The Crown in their latest showing, while Dynamos played the perfect game against the Peckwater Playboys to wrack up a resounding 9-0 victory.
