ARSENAL are preparing to take their Premier League title campaign to the London Stadium this Sunday, and Mikel Arteta might just want to pay heed to what happened when the club’s women’s team faced West Ham at the weekend.

Things seemed to be going to plan when Alessia Russo headed home her fifth Women’s Super League goal of the season just before the break to give the Gunners a deserved lead at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.

But the north Londoners were made to pay a hefty price for failing to take their chances when the Hammers hit back to seal a shock 2-1 victory and put a massive dent in Arsenal’s title hopes.

“We need to focus on the future and what we can control, but it was frustrating today, no lies about that,” said Gunners boss Jonas Eidevall. “We need to learn from those lessons and we need to become stronger.”

The defeat leaves Arsenal third in the WSL table, three points behind Manchester City in second, who they face in the Women’s FA Cup this Sunday, and six points behind leaders Chelsea.
