King’s Cross Hurricanes lead Division One – but the pool league title race could still go down to the wire

KING’S Cross Hurricanes have one hand on the Division One title in the Chalk Farm Pool League following a resounding 8-1 victory over DOB Dynamos on Monday night.

Only Peter Cantone’s last-gasp win against Nick Phillips prevented King’s Cross from chalking up a perfect 9-0 result. But a dropped frame wasn’t going to dampen the spirits as Alp Sezer’s side stretched their lead at the top of the table to 22 points with two games to go.

Rivals Hurricane Potters aren’t about to put down their cues and surrender, however. Come the next round of league matches on June 26 – teams are switching their focus to the Liam Tarrant Cup this coming Monday – the Potters will be looking to topple Maddens PJ’s, while hoping PJ O’Connors can take points off King’s Cross.

If that happens then the title race could go down to the wire with Hurricane Potters and King’s Cross Hurricanes due to square off on the final day of the season.
