Jeremy Vine’s helmet cam footage in Tavistock Place

PRESENTER Jeremy Vine filmed a Camden rubbish truck driving down a cycle lane in Tavistock Place, saying it was “imperilling” cyclists.

Posting online, the broadcaster captured a Veolia van driving towards him while he cycled up to the recognisable by its trans flag crossing.

In the video, Mr Vine asks “what are you doing?” and a Veolia worker replies: “See what we’re doing here, working mate.”

Mr Vine tweeted the clip saying: “You can’t take a massive hunk of metal like this the wrong way down a cycle lane, no matter how important a job its operatives are doing.”

Camden Council replied that its waste vehicles have set routes and “should not be blocking or travelling down cycle lanes”, adding it “had reminded them of the importance of drivers keeping cycle lane clear at all times”.
