John Gulliver: e-Bikes in the dock

What are all these bikes doing here?

WE have all got used to e-bikes being routinely left in the street outside of designated bays, contrary to a big-money contract agreed between operators and the Town Hall last year.

While most people are in favour of a greener transport system, e-bikes left on the pavement in this way do cause an obstruction for the elderly and disabled – and also add to the general sense of irritation all around.

The council doesn’t seem to care too much about this however, as evidenced by this picture taken by photographer Simon Lamrock. It shows several bikes left blocking the pavement directly outside the newly refurbished Town Hall in Judd Street. So what is going on?

Either council staff are haphazardly leaving the bikes outside the office.

Or Lime is operating in blatant disregard of its deal with the council. Answers on a postcard.
