Councillor Richard Olszewski is enjoying council meetings in Dudley

FOLLOWERS of Camden’s Labour councillors on social media will now be well versed in all the comings and goings in Uxbridge.

You’re just as much likely to get an update on the campaign to save a library over there from our council regeneration chief Danny Beales as one of his nuggets from this side of London. As has been well documented, Danny holds onto his important brief in Camden while ploughing on with his second attempt to win a place in parliament in Uxbridge and South Ruislip.

You may recall he blamed Sadiq Khan’s expansion of the environmental measure, the ULEZ, as the reason for his narrow defeat in a by-election earlier this year.

Then we got Bloomsbury councillor Rishi Madlani ramping up his tweets about events in Leicester – where he grew up and remains fiercely loyal to the Foxes’ football team.

He later came an unlucky second in the race parliamentary selection for Leicester East. All of this leads us on to Camden’s finance chief Fortune Green councillor Richard Olszewski who has been tweeting about the West Midland town of Dudley in recent weeks and months.

He’s popped up in the public gallery of council meetings – not something you accidentally drop in on on your way home to West Hampstead – and joined Labour activists on the doorstep.

Would it be unfair to deduce that such an interest in a town 125 miles away follows a similar pattern? Labour after all will soon need to pick a candidate there.
