Camden Swiss Cottage’s Ally Larson on her way to gold at the London Swimming Championships

YOUNGSTERS from Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club made a splash at the 2019 London Swimming Championships as they brought home an astonishing 64 medals.

The stars of the show were Ally Larson and Ava Lambropoulos, who both won an amazing six gold medals each. Ally topped the podium in the 200m and 400m individual medley, the 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly and the 400m freestyle. The talented 19-year-old also scooped silver medals in her 100m and 200m freestyle events.

Clubmate Ava, 12, also showed her strength and speed in the pool as she won the 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly, the 200m and 400m individual medley and the 400m freestyle, along with a silver medal in the 200m freestyle.

Donatas Dragasius, 15, and Ella McEver, 14, battled to bring home six regional medals each. Donatas took gold in the 200m individual medley, and the 100m and 200m backstroke, and silver medals in the 50m backstroke, the 200m breaststroke and the 400m individual medley.

Ella collected gold in the 50m breaststroke and the 400m individual medley, and silvers in the 200m individual medley, the 200m butterfly, and the 100m and 200m breaststroke.

The Camden Swiss Cottage team who enjoyed huge success at the London Swimming Championships

Lucas Bohm, 12, Leo He, 14, and Ines Guimond-Beetham, 11, each took home a handful of medals. Lucas completed a clean sweep of the breaststroke events by winning the 50m, 100m, and 200m races, while also adding a bronze medal in the 50m freestyle. Leo took gold in the 100m butterfly, silver in the 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly, and bronze in the 100m freestyle and 200m butterfly. Ines continued the success, producing silver medals in the 50m butterfly and the 400m individual medley and bronze medals in the 400m freestyle, and the 100m and 200m butterfly.

There were two medals each for Jackson Olin and Yann Divet. Jackson, 17, won the 200m backstroke and bagged a bronze in the 100m butterfly, while Yann, 16, took gold in the gruelling 1500m freestyle before adding a silver medal in the 400m freestyle.

Anna Podurgiel, 17, Alexis Lambropoulos, 15, Pavle Stamenkovic, 17, and Nick Finch, 13, all narrowly missed the golden top spot in their respective races. Anna placed second in the 50m and 100m backstroke, while finishing third in the 200m freestyle. Alexis was second in the 100m and 400m freestyle, while Pavle finished second in the 200m freestyle. Nick was also rewarded for his efforts with a silver medal in the 50m breaststroke, while also finishing third in the 100m butterfly.

Additional bronze medals went to Lauren Brantley, 17, in the 200m butterfly and the 400m individual medley, Brandon Biss, 14, in the 1,500m freestyle, Amir Castronovo, 16, in the 200m breaststroke, Oliver Wright, 14, in the 50m breaststroke, and Grace Wylie, 18, in the 200m backstroke.

Para-swimmers Charlotte Hyde and Leah O’Connell, both 17, also both came away victorious. Charlotte took gold in the 100m and 400m freestyle, while Leah took top spot in the 50m butterfly and silver in the 50m and 100m freestyle.

In the team relay events, the 17-and-over squad of Ally Larson, Anna Podurgiel, Lauren Brantley, and Georgina Winters took gold in the 4x100m freestyle. Ally, Anna and Lauren were then joined by Grace Wylie to take a silver medal in the 4x100m medley relay.
