My-Yen

Before I started my apprenticeship at Plan A Consultants Ltd, I was a stay-at-home mum, raising my family. When the opportunity at Plan A came up I thought it was a perfect match.

I was looking for an interesting design related role in which I could bring in my business knowledge and more importantly have the opportunity to learn on the job.

I’m studying towards a Level 4 Associate Project Manager qualification. This will take two years and 20% of my working time is allocated to study. In my role as a Design Manager Apprentice, I liaise with different clients and work on a number of internal projects with senior manager guidance. The most enjoyable tasks are those in which I feel I can learn and/or can slowly take ownership. I feel that each new task, as simple as it sounds gives me the chance to get to know the project, the team and the industry.

The online study provides me the theoretical knowledge of best practice in Project Management. And my personal experience on the job gives me the skills of implementing best practice into daily working life. But more importantly I feel this work exposure is helpful for my personal development.
