A TEAM of triumphant trampolinists were jumping for joy after rounding off a fantastic 2023 with a mighty medal haul.

Competitors from Camden Gymnastics Club took part in the London Gymnastics Aspire, Club and Challenge Cup, which was held in Redbridge recently. The squad featured youngsters from both Camden and Islington, including several new team members and the club’s first-ever para competitor, Liam Drake, who won a gold medal in the 13-14 age group.

Oliver Majid and Abby Luke marked their first competition for the club by scooping silver medals in their respective events, while Ava Smith, who was also taking part in her first outing for the club, bagged a bronze.

Other highlights saw Anna Brinton score a perfect 50 on the floor for her range and conditioning routine. And more medals landed in the men’s category where Elijah Mceyeso took silver and Wilson Amelly and Finley Benson picked up bronzes.

Arialla Sher Dayrit-Ali, Eloise Alexander and Janelle Amelly demonstrated the club’s bright future as they achieved bronze classification in the 7-9 years age group.

Meanwhile, Bianca Serrano had to use her experience to hold together the most difficult routine currently being performed by anyone at the club. The 10 somersault routine includes a double-back somersault and a one-and-a-half twisting front somersault, earning Bianca a bronze medal in the women’s 17-plus category.
