THE sound of Gooners singing a very special version of ABBA’s “Voulez-Vous” could be heard bellowing from the stands at the King Power Stadium on Sunday as Arsenal staged a scintillating second-half comeback against Leicester City.

Trailing 2-0 at the break, there was just a glimmer of hope that the Gunners could salvage something from their sixth Women’s Super League outing of the season.

And when Cloe Lacasse shrugged off her marker and slid the ball through Janina Leitzig’s legs, minutes after the restart, it ignited “the Arsenal way” as Jonas Eidevall’s side treated the 4,000-plus crowd to a clinical display of goal-getting that left their manager feeling “emotional”.

Within a little over 10 minutes of pulling one back, the visitors were 4-2 up with Alessia Russo, Caitlin Foord and Victoria Pelova all finding the back of the net.

The north Londoners continued to share the goals around as substitutes Stina Blackstenius and Lina Hurtig also got in on the act before the Arsenal players danced off the pitch while being cheered by the away fans, celebrating an astonishing 6-2 victory.

There was one chant in particular that caught the ear as supporters serenaded the Gunners’ new Canadian striker: “Twenty fouuuurrrrrrr… Lacasse running down the wing, Lacasse hear the Arsenal sing, Lacasse and we’re gonna win the league!”

It was certainly appreciated by Arsenal’s summer signing.

“I’ve heard it, let me tell you,” Lacasse said after the game. “My Twitter has been exploding about the song. It’s incredible, it’s been stuck in my head as well. So thanks to the fans.

“I’ve felt at home here since I arrived, and having that chant is just incredible. I’m happy to be here and I’m happy to have that chant stuck in my head.”

After seeing the Gunners storm into second place in the WSL, just three points behind leaders Chelsea, Eidevall was quick to praise his “phenomenal” players.

“I think some of the attacking football we played in the second half was great to watch,” said the Arsenal boss. “It was a great representation of the way Arsenal play football.

“We had a lot of speed and creativity in our forward four. We probably had just as many opportunities that we didn’t score as we did, which is very impressive away from home.”
