EMERGING St Pancras ABC prospect Chris Thomas is proving a real belter as he continues to inspire other young boxers around him.

The 22-year-old from Kentish Town beat Vincent Mandir at the York Hall in Bethnal Green earlier this month to land the England Boxing Southern Area Elite light middleweight title.

He adds the prestigious belt to the MTK Global Lonsdale Box Cup and London Elites titles that he already holds.

Reflecting on his biggest win to date, Chris said: “It boosted my confidence even more – it showed me that if I keep working hard I can do anything.

“My ambition this season now is to win a national title. I’ve won a London title and a Southern Area title, so that’s the only hardware that is missing.”

Stressing the importance of sharing his success with his fellow Saints, Chris added: “It was important for me to take the belts to the gym and let all the kids see them and take photos with them.

“Hopefully it will inspire them, and make them think ‘I can do that one day’. It feels really good to be able to encourage and inspire other young boxers.”

With the new season now fully underway, Saints’ head coach CJ Hussein said: “Chris has been training really hard, and just keeps getting better and better. He’s a real inspiration for the other kids.”
