CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

ARSENAL 2 (Trossard 29, Saka 65)

SEVILLA 0

THE Gunners cruised past Sevilla with a commanding performance that all but guarantees qualification to the Champions League knockout stages.

Top quality goals from Leandro Trossard and Bukayo Saka sealed the victory in a totally one-sided tie where the visitors – struggling for form in La Liga – took 96 minutes before registering their first shot on or off target.

The opener goal was made from a low raking pass by Jorginho that carved through the Sevilla back line with perfect pace to set Saka free.

He squared across the face to Trossard who passed it in with confidence.

Saka made it two after sitting down his defender similar to the what Jesus did to Man United’s Dalot earlier this season.

After chopping back, he coolly passed it into the bottom corner.

Saliba did not have a testing game, but the man is absolute god amongst mere mortals.

The one and only time the visitors threatened in the first half he was there with a last ditch tackle.

He did not put a foot wrong in a reassuring masterful performance.

Gabriel Martinelli caused havoc on the wing throughout the whole game, but could not quite pick out the killer cut back.

After last season’s fireworks, he has only scored done goal this season – Sevilla away – and the drought is clearly weighing on his mind.

The match started with a golden chance for Havertz, who placed a back post header feebly wide with the goal at his mercy.

But he grew into the game and almost scored a peach in the second half with a long range effort just bending past the post.

The match was so one-sided that a relaxed atmosphere in the ground, as the Gunners knocked it about with style.

Club captain Martin Odegaard was not in the squad due to an injury he picked up in the away to Sevilla, who lie 15th in La Liga after five games without a win.

Arsenal need one point from the remaining two games, away to PSV and home to Lens, to ensure qualification to the knockout stages.
