To raise money for homelessness services, ScotsCare CEO Shona Fleming, trustee Jessica Cadzow-Collins, Rebecca Bain, Tacklebag MD Paul McFarland and David Balden and Matthew McCluskey of the Caledonian Club, took part in the CEO Sleepout at Lord’s Cricket Ground on Monday 20th November, where attendees sleep out under the stars to replicate the challenge the homeless must face every night. They were raising funds in support of ScotsCare, which supports Scots in need in London, including the homeless.

The night saw little sleep, but much camaraderie and also featured a talk from ScotsCare client James, who has lived experience of homelessness. He shared the reality of living on the streets and rehabilitating his life, with the help of services from the likes of ScotsCare.

The team reported feeling disorientated and sleep deprived, after just one night. The cold, frequent sirens and general noise of the city meant attendees struggled to rest. It’s clear how it can become progressively harder to get out of homelessness, once it becomes more and more regular.

Through their combined fundraising pages, the team of 6 have now raised an amazing £20k plus, and are aiming to raise more. Even though the event has finished donations are still open here: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/shona-fleming6
