THE Sherif is in town, and he’s ready to take a shot at making a name for himself within the professional boxing ranks.

Highly rated St Pancras ABC stalwart Sherifdeen Lawal has wrapped up his amateur career. And now he’s heading to one of the sport’s hallowed venues when he steps between the ropes against an as-yet-unnamed opponent at the York Hall in Bethnal Green on March 30.

“I think the pro game will suit Sherif down to a tee, he’s got all the talent to become a great middleweight,” said Saints head coach CJ Hussein. “He’s a real inspiration to all the younger boxers at the gym.”

Brothers Patrick and Christie Dunne and Luke Williams

Three of those juniors, brothers Patrick and Christie Dunne and Luke Williams, sharpened their skills when they took part in the Kent Gloves ABC open show recently.

Both Patrick and Luke unanimously won their respective bouts against Kent’s Freddie Cherry and West Kingsdown ABC’s Harry Costin, while Christie was narrowly beaten by Christy Joyce from Mullingar ABC.

To buy tickets for Lawal’s pro debut just pop into St Pancras ABC in Talacre Road, NW5.
