YOUNGSTERS are being given the chance to pocket snooker sessions this summer for just a pound.

The English Partnership of Snooker and Billiards (EPSB), which runs the amateur side of the sport, will be running junior holiday clubs across the country for six to 16-year-olds.

Cousins Snooker Club, in Holloway, Islington, will host the London-based sessions under the guidance of Gone-2-Pot coach John Woods.

“It’s going to be really exciting,” said John. “We were meant to hold the sessions last summer but the pandemic put paid to that. The hope is that we will attract new faces to the sport. And you never know, for all the kids who hopefully turn up for a bit of fun, we might find one or two who take snooker seriously and want to go on and play at a national level.”

John will have some very special helpers when the holiday club gets underway at the end of July.

He added: “John Donovan and Elliott Johnson, who train with me in King’s Cross, will be helping out as Young Leaders.

“They have both done exceptionally well on the national snooker scene, and have bags of experience. It’s going to be great fun. We get underway on Monday, July 26, and will then be running one session a week every Monday, except for one which is on Friday, August 13.”
