Camden Sunday League side Hackney Wednesday celebrate their 3-1 cup final win against Heavyn FC

THE latest piece of silverware in the Camden Sunday League has been snapped up after Hackney Wednesday got their hands on the much-coveted Frank Sheridan Senior Invitation Cup.

In what was described as “a game of two halves”, Wednesday overcame Heavyn FC on the Hackney Marsh South show pitch.

The first 45 minutes belonged to Heavyn, with Wednesday having goalkeeper Jay Walsh to thank for keeping them in the game as he made two vital point-blank saves. But it was all change after the break as Fergus McIntosh quickly fired Wednesday into the driving seat with two goals in 10 minutes, the first an audacious lob after the ball dropped to him following a corner.

McIntosh then turned provider, setting up Martyn Davies for a third. Heavyn scored a late consolation through Giovanni Palmer, but it was the boys in hyper-jade who were celebrating at the sound of the final whistle as the game ended 3-1.
