A TEENAGER was stabbed in Maitland Park on Wednesday afternoon and is in hospital in a critical condition.

A 17-year-old boy was stabbed in the Maitland Park Road vicinity at around 2pm. A cordon remains in place.

Witness Daniel Prescot, who was in the area doing a paint job for his friend, said he was outside when he heard a commotion behind Rowan House. He saw four boys who looked like they were aged 13-16 involved.

Mr Prescot told the New Journal: “We’re in shock. We’ve done nothing since really, just standing out here in shock.

“I saw a boy running, he went around that estate [Rowan House] and fell on the floor. You could see he had blood on his back. It didn’t look good. It went right through him. I’ve seen enough injuries to know it didn’t look good.

“By then a lot of builders had come out over there so i think they just got on their bikes and legged it. They drove away on push bikes with a big knife in their hand that looked like a little samurai sword. It was bad. They looked young, like they should be in school.”

A number of crime scenes are in place and two weapons have been recovered.

The police confirmed that two people have been arrested in connection with the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call police via 101 quoting reference CAD 3960/22Mar.
