THERE were plenty of big hits at the Boston Dome in Tufnell Park on Sunday as boxing fans turned out in force to cheer on the best and brightest that the capital has to offer.
Islington Boxing Club (IBC) hosted their second open show of the season, putting together an action-packed programme that included no fewer than 17 bouts featuring talented young boxers from the gym in Hazellville Road, Upper Holloway.
Among IBC’s big winners was Dylan Gibson who lives in Camden Town. Weighing in at 52kg, the 13-year-old finally settled matters with rival Albert McLeary from Bodyshots ABC in Dartford.
The National Schools champions were tied at one win each having met twice before. The third chapter between the pair ended with Gibson’s arm being raised in glory as he gained a unanimous win off the judges after three pulsating one-and-a-half-minute rounds.
