Ms Reid gets a send-off from her pupils at Brookfield

IT was a fitting swan song – a school choir raising their voices to the roof as they said a tearful goodbye to their much-loved music teacher.

Julia Reid left Brookfield Primary School this Christmas after 19 years of service – and the choir she has carefully nurtured got together to say a heartfelt thanks on Monday to a teacher who has introduced hundreds of young people at the Highgate Newtown school to the joys of music.

Among those who have benefitted from her work is the Eurovision entrant Mae Muller, who attended the school.

Headteacher Laurel Robin said at a school Christmas service: “She will be irreplaceable and very much missed. We’d like to thank Julia so, so much for everything she has done.”
