Peckwater TA skipper James Mason broke the dominance of King’s Cross Hurricanes in this year’s Chalk Farm Pool League

PIN-POINT potter James Mason made sure King’s Cross Hurricanes didn’t get it all their own way this season in the Chalk Farm Pool League.

The Hurricanes have enjoyed an almost unstoppable campaign, winning the Division One championship, the Liam Tarrant Cup, the Division One Divisional Cup, and even both the singles and seniors titles.

But they won’t be adding the Captains’ Cup to their trophy cabinet – that honour instead going to Mason.

The Peckwater TA skipper showed plenty of craft and guile around the table as he beat Alp Sezer 3-1 in an entertaining final, which was held at the Hurricane Room in King’s Cross earlier this month.

Finally calling time on the season, league chairman Shaun Pollard said: “We had one more final to fit in, and it turned out to be a classic underdog victory. King’s Cross Hurricanes have won almost everything this season and I’m sure most people were expecting Alp to earn the club yet another trophy. But Mason was fantastic, potting well under pressure to take home the prize.”
