SPURS are on their way to Wembley, and it’s something of a pleasant surprise for manager Robert Vilahamn.

More than 18,000 fans packed into the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday to see the north Londoners come from a goal down to beat Leicester City 2-1 and book their place in the Women’s FA Cup final for the first time.

The Foxes took a half-time lead thanks to Jutta Rantala’s solo strike but Jess Naz grabbed an equaliser with seven minutes of normal time left. Substitute Martha Thomas’ looping header deep in extra-time then won it in dramatic fashion for Tottenham, earning them a date with Man United, who overcame holders Chelsea 2-1.

Vilahamn will be the first Spurs boss to go to an FA Cup final in 33 years. Looking ahead to the match on Sunday, May 12, he said: “I can honestly say, I didn’t expect us to be there this year. But, wow, we are actually there and we deserve to be because we had some really amazing performances.”
