ENGLAND internationals Shaz Khan and Tony Stevens both racked up impressive wins for their club sides on Monday night in Division One of the Chalk Farm Pool League.

Khan’s victory in the doubles, alongside teammate Rupert Ward, saw leaders King’s Cross Hurricanes strengthen their grip at the top of the table with a perfect 9-0 win over Maddens PJ’s.

Stevens also displayed a determined frame of mind as he and doubles partner Ian Norris helped Northumberland Lions beat King’s Cross Gunners 6-3.

Khan and Stevens have every reason to take to the table with extra vigour. They both recently celebrated glory while representing their country at the EBA Nations Cup, which was held in Bridlington in East Yorkshire at the end of March.

Khan was part of the Masters “A” team that powered their way into the final, where they came from 7-3 down to beat rivals Wales 13-11. Stevens, meanwhile, was part of an equally dominant Masters “B” team that stormed into their final, also winning 13-11 – this time against Scotland.

After jumping at the chance to lead his country out in the final, Khan said: “I was super proud. When Graeme Witton potted the winning black I yelled out a big ‘come on’ and hugged and high-fived all the players.

“What a rush to win for your country, I hope this is the first of many titles. I want it again, I think I’m an addict now!”
