TALACRE will be at the centre of Camden’s Windrush Celebration Day on SUNDAY – an important moment  to celebrate the borough’s Windrush generation and showcase its Caribbean heritage, culture, and communities.

Camden is celebrating 75 years since the arrival of HMS Windrush into Britain, with a whole host of activities, events, and exhibitions open to all.

‘The Homecoming: Camden’s Windrush 75 Celebration’ on Talacre Town Green in Kentish Town will have an amazing line up of live music performances from established and emerging local talent, sports activities, Caribbean food vendors, arts and crafts stalls, and much more.

Musical special guests performing on the day include Queen of Lovers Rock Carroll Thompson, Jazzie B from Soul II Soul, Dave Barker of Double Barrel fame and the Reggae Choir.

Camden’s culture chief Councillor Sabrina Francis said: “To honour the immense contributions and achievements of the Windrush generation in Camden, we’ve got an exciting programme of events, workshops and exhibitions taking place this month. Camden is proud to be home to a generation of Windrush children, innovators, artists and musicians who have all enriched British life.

“I hope you will join us in celebrating these stories and use this time to learn more about the Windrush generation in Camden.”

Last week’s New Journal incorrectly said that this event was on Saturday, so please make sure your diaries are changed and you come along on Sunday.
