YOUNG footballers involved in the Camden Youth League are going to get the chance to play at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium and Wembley… well, sort of.

Organisers behind the competition resumed their Under-7s and Under-8s division at their new home on Saturday, the artificial pitches in Castlehaven.

And despite the showers it proved a “big hit” with the teams.

“We had lots of positive feedback from clubs who loved playing in the heart of Camden Town,” said Ash Rahman, who helped oversee the opening round of fixtures.

“We’ve got three pitches booked every Saturday, and as a bit of extra fun, we’re going to name them after some of the players’ favourite football grounds – the Emirates, Wembley and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.”

Among the sides who enjoyed the thrills and spills at the weekend were Panitas FC’s Under-7s. Even though scores and league tables are not kept for the youngest age groups, the players still had plenty to celebrate as they won both their matches.
